INVESTING IN WELL BEING: A NEW TYPE OF POLITICS FOR THE ISLAND NATION

Politics! Why? Because I love this country, the way you love it…because I know what is best for this country, the way you do. Because I see the dreams you see…Feel what you feel, Hope what you hope for & need what you also desire. Because…even in these times of confusion and hatred, we still share one single detail. We are the lions of the Island nation THAT’S WHY!
Therefore, I wish to convey a new type of politics for this country…productive, considerate and unbiased as we are all living in an era that is in need for a massive political reform, eradication of the deep social problems…and the huge deficit in our treasury, and most importantly, the Judiciary system that has been brought to ruin, by the past regime.
I’d like to begin with a very obvious question, one that you all have been thinking about, one that you all have been asking right from the start.

How can the current government make things better without spending more money?
The whole money concept is a bit of a poser right now. And besides I believe it’s the wrong question to begin with. Let’s just put money out of the equation, for once. I trust that if politicians aim to measure progress by the money they invest, they are going to have a pretty miserable time in government…and even in the opposition.  Because there isn’t going to be a whole lot of money to pick up civil services, government and even to improve what politicians have been talking about, that’s for sure.
Ergo, the argument that I would like to make is that if we combine the right political philosophy and the democratic thinking that fits to the Generation I the incredible information revolution that has taken place, we would certainly make things right, which leads to WELL-BEING of our people. This is an incredible opportunity to re-make politics and how the government operates in this country.
So now, I believe we all know the right question to ask…
How can the current government invest in well-being of the people?
POWER TO PEOPLE through the technological advancements
If you give people more power and control over their lives, if you put them in the driving seat and give them more options, then you can actually create a stronger, better society. And if you utilize this fact, use it…apply it with the incredible amount of information that we have in our world today, as I’ve stated earlier, we can re-make politics and how the government operates public services in a way that is beneficial to the well-being of our people
HOW: Transparency & Choice
Transparency: There should be an unprecedented level of openness in Government and transparency promotes accountability and provides information for citizens about what their Government is doing.
The government could fashion a system through internet that allows the average citizen to know about the government spending. Every single Rufiyaa spent by the government should be searchable, analyzable and checkable. They should be able to question the transactions and even challenge the administration. Imagine the enormous change it must bring. Any organization that wishes to tender in a government project would be able to see what currently is being spent on. If applied in the right way, transparency will make a huge difference in this country...it would take us closer to the other Maldives they have been talking about.
Choice: Within just a few years, rapid advancements in technology have transformed the way we do business, the way we communicate, the way we live. These advances have also changed the way we teach and learn. Now we all shop online, chat online and do everything online. And yet this huge transformation in our lifestyle has hardly touched the surface of public services like, policing, health care and even education.
What the government can do is provide all the data online, so that all information is one-click away. Imagine the awareness that would bring to the people, a sex offender register will allow the parents to find out the sex offenders living in their neighborhoods. A patient who wishes to get the best medical care would be able to check what operations workout properly, what records doctors have, cleanliness of hospitals…who is the best in dermatology.
I believe that is the right way to provide this country with the strong, the stable, the good and decent government that I think we need so badly.  I trust that together we can provide that strong and stable government that our country needs based on those values, rebuilding government, rebuilding community, above all, rebuilding responsibility in our country. Those are the things I care about, and those are the things I wish to see from this government.

TRUTH!

When I was a kid I used to be elated when Ramadan, came around. They say that the Monsters and demons are imprisoned, and that none of the brutes could harm us. I remember I used to feel invincible…as if no one could harm me…as if all the evil and the darkness in the world have faded away, COMPLETELY!

And then I grew up to realize the truth that the evil and darkness only lay within us.

I learned that there have always been people who have done evil and dreadful things to others. Senseless acts of sadism, cruelty and mayhem have been perpetuated from one decade to the next; most often targeted are pure, innocent and usually powerless women and kids. When it happens in our own communities, our homes, the reality of it cuts even more deeply. It seems more real. With great pain in our hearts and confusion in our minds we all search for answers. Why?

I could try to answer this, but I’m afraid I have no special knowledge of ‘THE TRUTH’ do you?

It’s been said that in every man’s heart there is evil, but we do not know the man as bad until the devil is aroused. Men, chooses to rise above their innocence and embrace the darkness inside of them…They chooses to slay their virtuousness and clinch to the sins…everything comes down to the choices we make…the paths we prefer to stride along.

There are many who rush to blame the ills of our community on history’s greatest scapegoat, ‘SATAN,’ fearing that there is some evil power at work. Evil is not a power, It is an action…it’s the choices we make for ourselves. There are no ‘Princes of Darkness,’ or any other evil entity. If it was true the entire universe would be in conflict and it is not. Only humankind intentionally harms one another. There is no evil power, only evil people who misuse the power they posses in evil ways.

Eric Butterworth once wrote: “Evil, and evil spirits, devils and devil possession, are the outgrowth of man's inadequate consciousness of God. We must avoid thinking of evil as a thing in itself--a force that works against man.” To hold an adequate consciousness of God means we are living in a moment-to-moment, conscious awareness of Gods presence, knowing there is but One Power operating in us, through us and as us. In this consciousness there is no room for the darkness of duality thinking—and, there is an awareness that in a unity of One, to harm another is really harming oneself too.

Make no mistake about it, the Light which radiates from within you makes a difference in a world where there “appears” to be much darkness.

THE TALE OF HYPOTHETICAL MARIAM

You go to bed every night, worried about school, work, your love life…There are so many thoughts clouded in your head, So when it’s impossible to sleep, you take your iPod or Zune, play the songs that reminds you of your love life, that girl or the guy that you are so into...from ‘Crush’ to ‘You’re still the one’. Suddenly you realize that your foot is getting cold, so you turn off the A/C. Your mother comes in, and sees you shivering...so she takes the quilt on your bed and covers you, and she kisses you on your forehead. And she turns off the lights, as she leaves the room you sleep like a warm teddy bear under your 2000RF worth ‘boutis’ quilt. I’m just saying…

But it’s not the same for Hypothetical Mariam. She lives at Himadhoo, you all must’ve heard about the conflicts between the Himandhoo Jihadists and MNDF back in 2007. I don’t want to get in to that. As we all are aware, Himandhoo is an ‘Islamist mini-state’ whatever that means…They follow the Shariah Law that’s been practicing among the Pakistani Extremists and the Taliban. It’s true! Moving on…

Hypothetical Mariam is the youngest of the Abu Hashimi’s family. Abu hashimi has 3 wives, and a concubine for his sexual needs…I mean he doesn’t believe in condom, so his wives are always carrying his children. Apparently Islamic Shariah outlaws the use of condoms…so to speak. Not that I have a problem with his belief system and his sex life. But when it comes to our women and kids…I do. Moving on…

Mariam, the 15 year old girl who is 5 months pregnant to her 2nd child lives under her husband Abu Ahmed’s roof with his other 2 wives and the concubine. She moved out from her childhood home when she was 12 years old. Her father decided she was ready for marriage and responsibilities. She sits inside the small house, wearing the huge black viel that covers the scars from the beatings she recieves daily, carrying her 1 year old baby in her arms, who has brain-damage due to the beating she received from her husband while she was pregnant. Her heart stops beating every time her husband comes in. She doesn’t know what’s going to happen next.
Mariam go to bed every night, terrified by the ultimatums of her life…there are so many thoughts clouded in her head. So when it’s impossible to sleep, she turns around and watches her son sleep, so peaceful and quiet. She wonders what it’s like to be peaceful and quiet, as if she never experienced it. She tries to take it all in…to understand the concept of harmony. How difficult can that be eh?

What are we, morons? Aren’t we aware of what is happening around us? We spend our time arguing about politics…if not bitching about something we didn’t get, perhaps the PS3 or the High heels. We worry about the color of the dress we’d wear for dinner…or the MacBook your father promised to buy for your birthday, and the worldcup matches. It’s a shame, really! We are so sunk into the worldly pleasures and the prestigious wealth and status it has to offer.

I go to bed every night, worried about hypothetical Mariam, or Aisha…there are so many thoughts clouded in my head, so when it is impossible to sleep I sit in front the computer and write down my thoughts, so that it will remind me the purpose of my life. It’s one of those nights. So please, do your part to protect Mariam from her husband. HELP ME GOD! DON’T LET ME FALL UNTIL I’VE DONE MY PART TO SAVE MARIAM FROM ABU AHMED!

MY DIRTY SECRETS

I’ve made mistakes in my life…lots of them. I’m not talking about murdering a person. I’m talking about the parents I have let down…the exams I didn’t pass, The people who I’ve walked away from, the classmate I paid to have bullied, for my own pleasure…The people I manipulated with money & the legacy and the reputation I did not live up to…trust me, there’s more. But I’m guessing you already get the gist of what I’m saying. I’m human, I make mistakes…and I don’t regret any of them.
Life is too short to live by regrets. You make a mistake, you learn from it and you make sure you never do it again. The mistakes I have made, it made me a better person. I am a better person for making those mistakes. Why regret it? That’s life.
You take responsibilities for what you do. The biggest mistake I ever made was falling in love, which led to the failed exams…disappointed parents. But do I blame it on her. I’m smart, I’m capable of a lot of things…nobody need to tell me that. Nobody’s got to define me. I know who I am and what I’m capable of achieving. Do I blame my failure on her and just walk away? NO I don’t! Nor do I regret it. It was a choice. I chose to talk to her. I chose to let myself go there. She didn’t drag me into it. I dragged myself. And when I knew I was falling in love with her, I chose to stay. She was all I thought about…She was all I wanted. But it turns out to be a very stupid mistake. It was. I could’ve been great…extra-ordinary even. But I don’t regret it for once. Because now I know how to, and when to walk away from a mistake, makes me a better person for walking away.
Life may not turn out the way you want it to…You have expectations, goals, dreams. And when you fail to reach those goals, to make those dreams come true, when you fail to reach those expectations…you don’t walk away and regret it for the rest of your life. You step up and make new goals, watch better dreams. You move-on. You become a better person. Because you know you can.
Why am I telling you all this? I could’ve hid my dirty secrets. I’m telling you all this. Because I want you to learn from my mistakes, I want you to become a better person, I want you to stand up as you fall. Everybody needs inspiration every once in a while. I know I do. So frankly, sharing my dirty secrets with you is worth it, because it helps YOU, to become a better person.
As for me, I will make my parents proud, and I will never pay a living soul for my worldly pleasures, NO I’m not talking about hookers.

BLOW UP DOLLS FOR EXTREMISTS (PERVS)

First of all I am not a religious scholar, and I will not be making any statement(s) regarding the Islamic tenets and conventions. Why you ask? It’s simply because I can’t. Moving on…
I’ve repeatedly said that “Islam doesn’t make you look ridiculous and pathetic, but extremism does” and of course most of you agree. There are some among us who use religion as a shield for their unscrupulous and immoral deeds. Who use religion as an excuse to rape young girls, people who use religion to murder innocent human beings, who use religion to disfigure women with acids, YES!!! ACID! YOU HAVE NO IDEA! Well they are commonly referred as ‘Haabees…Mullahs…Extremists’ I’ll call them
Perverts, Disgusting and immoral brutes. They are the sexual sadists hiding behind religion. They are the Psychopaths hiding behind the Veils.
So these perverts are only interested in one thing. That is
SEX. The 72 chicks they get in the next world and worldly sexual intercourse. It really doesn’t matter if it’s with a kid…a goat, they F*** anything that moves. And it is common for these brutes to have more than one wife.

There was a case in Pakistan when the wife disobeyed her husband…he actually used Pure Acid to disfigure her. She was a beautiful woman. True story!
It wouldn’t take much long…for that to happen here, in this nation. I assure you. These horrific actions against women and children need to be disrupted. Who among us are willing to take responsibilities? Well trust me. I would. So I thought of way to stop these soulless thugs.

BLOW UP DOLLS! Yes. They can buy as many as they want. And name them…Aisha, Mariam…fathimath. You know! 60 or 80 dolls. I don’t care. Marry them, and F*** the s*** out of them. And whenever these brutes desire, they can throw their doll wives into acid, I don’t give a f***. Do you? Just leave our kids and women, alone. PLEASE!

THEY ARE JUST KIDS, PERVERT!

What do I hate the most? I’ll go in order.

1. Pedophiles

2. Rapists

3. Extremists (feminists, believers).

And you thought I’d mention Maumoon and DRP, well they fall into the three categories above. And someone’s got to talk about the PEDOS! I’m not a father, I don’t have children. But I do know how it’s like to be one. Now I think about my childhood I remember how it’s like to be powerless and vulnerable, defenseless and weak… being petrified by every little thing.

Look at the picture above. Look in to their eyes. What do you see? Well I see defenseless kids, their eyes bares innocence and purity. There’s the hyper cheerleader, the bashful girl, daughter of the fisherman, the lost boy and the Tibet’s future in their mother’s arms. Every one of them has a story.

WHAT HAPPENED TO ME

I was only 8 or 9. I had this cousin brother who is way older than me. And I found him doing god knows what. I confronted him, and he told me he’d kill my parents if I told them. Since then I couldn’t leave my parents alone with him in the same room. My heart stops every single time he comes in. I was afraid that he might really kill them. I was just only a kid. Anyways he’s gone now. May be rest in peace!

PORNOGRAPHY & STATISTICS

To understand Child molesters we need to unravel some statistical facts. Pornography is extremely influential in the actions of sex offenders. Further, statistics show that 90 percent of the predators who molest children have had some sort of involvement with pornography. 77% of child molesters of boys and 87% of child molesters of girls admitted imitating the sexual behavior they had seen in pornography they had watched. Roughly 33% of girls and 14% of boys are molested before the age of 18. Nearly 1/5 of all sexual assaults reported involved minors and roughly 2/3 involved children under the age of 12. In most cases, however, child molestation goes unreported. Estimates are that only 25% of sexual abuse is reported. Kids can be frightened or embarrassed and many times do not say anything.

WHY ARE THEY EMBARRASSED? (HYPOTHITICAL AISHA)

“Sex is dirty and disgusting, do not talk about it” that’s what our parents say.

Do you know Aisha? Not ‘EKKALA’ Aisha, hypothetical Aisha. She is only 8 years old, and lives in male’ with her hypothetical Cousin Sister Fathun’s family. The family includes her husband Ali and their 14 year old son Hassan. Now we need to understand this family very openly. It’s been 20 years for their marriage. And Hassan is bored with his wife, it’s not surprising though. They threw away ‘Kama Sutra’ book I gave them for their wedding. So their marriage has been sexless for years. Ali is a man. We all know what that means. Don’t we? I’ll cut to the chase; he needs to empty his hypothetical balls. Once he is used to sex he is not going to take business in his own hands, ergo he’ll go for the next best thing, which is Aisha. His behavior changes, he won’t pay any attention to his own kid. Hassan is in need for a role model. He’s a teenager. But his father won’t give him any time. Ali spends his time with Aisha, He makes her feel special. Buys her pretty and expensive gifts, takes her out. Gives her everything she ever hoped for. Ali the pervert made sure Aisha has a lot to loose. His wife Fathun started to notice Ali’s odd behavior. But Fathun is too much of a coward to do anything. She’s scared of her neighbors finding out about it. She wants to protect her self and her son from humiliation, even though Aisha’s life is about to be ruined. Anyways Ali started to disappear in middle of the night. Fathun is too scared to walk out the bedroom. She knows what she’s going to see. So she just lies there, and thinks about her own son and her self while Ali is in Aisha’s room. The first night he came in to see if she’s alright, the second night he set down the bedside. He cleansed her hair the third night, and it finally excited him the fourth night. It goes on. Ali gains more and more confidence and power over the little girl. And she just lies their without a word. Fathun gets jealous due to lack of attention from her own husband. Fathun now hates Aisha, so she beats her physically and abuses her. Aisha started to wet her bed. She sees nightmares and is scared of the dark. Her new white underwear is stained and her ‘peepee’ hurts. She sees her self as a disgusting piece of garbage. That’s what Fathun told her. That’s Aisha for you.

How many Ali’s are there in Maldives? These predators are already in our households. He may be an Uncle or a cousin brother…sometimes their own fathers. WE NEED CHILD MOLESTATION ATTORNEYS. WE NEED TO AWARE OUR COMMUNITIES ABOUT THESE PREDATORS. WE NEED TO UNDERSTAND THESE PERVERTS, BEFORE THEY ACT ON THEIR OWN FANTASIES

It’s my greatest fear, not being able to save Aisha from Ali, being incapable of putting Ali and Fathun behind bars. HELP ME GOD! DON’T LET ME FALL UNTIL I’VE DONE MY PART TO MAKE OUR HOMES FREE FROM PEDOS LIKE ALI.

AGNOSTIC OLD BASTARD WHO RUINED US

READERS DISCRETION ADVISED: Guys! This one’s a bit harsh for the blues! And try to notice the humor and sarcasm…it is not my political opinion.

NEVER FORGET THE FOLLOWING WORDS!

Everyone has the right to freedom of thought and the freedom to communicate opinions and expression in a manner that is not contrary to any tenet of Islam – 27, Freedom of expression, CHAPTER I. The Constitution.

My friend and I were talking about the Maldivian politics the other day, and how it’s been pissing me off. I mean the opposition is just ‘lame’ BLEH! All ‘Wankers’ and wannabes, it’s not interesting at all and to be frank, it’s all drama bro! Should I go on and just let it out of my chest? I think I will. “You need to shut the f*ck up, Maumoon! I’ve been trying to figure out, how in the world you’ve retired as a so-called politician, well to me you are an insult to humanity and you always will be…never a politician, at least not a good one. You’re an agnostic old bastard.” Mmmhmmm! That felt good…I just had a ‘Poligasm.’ That’s right! It’s a real term.

Anyways I’ve written about a lot of stuff. To begin with, the legendary Angel behind the green doors, Hope and Dreams, marriage and divorce and of course atheism and religion, but never have I expressed my political opinion. Well I was born and raised to hold the Yellow and Blue flag of Revolution and Hope….the flag of unity and prosperity. Every single time I hold one I get Goose bumps. Oh god! It’s an ecstasy, not the pill of course…Geez! Aren’t you perverted? Just kidding! I guess by now you’ve learned that I’m one of the ‘Awesome MDPians’ We, MDPians have a reputation for being Brave and Steadfast, yes we do…don’t bite your lips…it’s true. We are constant and devoted, and ‘Hell yeah!’ we are motivated by our duties to this country, its religion and culture. We are not India with a ‘Sanskaar aur Paramparaa’ is that how they say it? :S but still we have a culture that we’re proud of. Don’t we? Now that’s what MDP is about, that’s what I am about. If you’re wondering, I’m not trying to promote my future political career, if there’s going to be one. If anything…I’m pissing off the ‘blues’ and risking it all. But I think it’ll be worth it.

All these years we’ve been debating to see who’s responsible for ruining ‘Dhivehi Raajje – Saafu Dhivehi Raajje’ well now it’s like the Gotham city when Bruce Wayne arrived in the movie, if you hadn’t watched it yet, don’t bother reading this. Our people are living in hell! Literally hell and our so-called judiciary system is corrupted and dreadfully ruined…No one trusts in the system. Women! Ummm well, I think I’m going to stop there, no need to walk down that road; I might even get slapped Eh! perhaps even get killed so I’m not going to say it. But we’ve got to talk about the kids and the juvenile…well they are our future, they are the ones who’ll carry our legacy…well my legacy to the next centuries till God strikes us and end the universe. Our kids are well treated with drugs and un-limited internet access to pornography, hard-core and soft-core works both ways. There is no respect to anyone these days, well look at me; I just accused Maumoon of being an agnostic old bastard you know! Well actually it is true and he deserves that. We need a Batman, a dark night…a guardian, to save us from Maumoon…the bastard who ruined us…the bastard who tried to take away our Hopes and dreams. I say No one…NO ONE DISRUPT OUR DREAMS AND ASPIRATIONS! He’s the one who’s responsible for your child being a douche-bag…he’s the reason your marriage is sexless and didn’t work. He’s the reason you got AIDS, he’s the reason your Daddy hates you honey. Trust me! It’s all HIM! Thank you.

IT ALL STARTS WITH A DREAM, ONLY A DREAM

Dreaming…some say it’s pathetic and it’s for the losers, but I say it is the beginning of every major thing. I remember the days when I had a battery-powered toy gun in my hand and wanting to become a police man, to serve the country and do good deeds. And the day I watched my pediatrician check my heart beat, I wanted to become a doctor that day. I was so young and ambitious, with a lot of dreams and aspirations, wanting to become an adult like my brother, because he had his own ride and he could do whatever he wanted to do. In my eyes he was a vigorous eagle, so independent and unfettered, not limited by rules or any other controlling influence. Not too long ago I had my cape on, just like the Bat man. He was my favorite super hero, I know…I know, a lot of kids were into Spiderman, I just hated spiders and he didn’t even own a cape, did he? Spiderman was pathetic. Anyways I wanted to be just like Batman, powerful and strong, capable of saving the day and ruin the evil. Didn’t we all used to dream about stuff like that? And yeah, maybe for some of you people it was all about fairy tales and the three wishes, believe me, even I wanted to hop on the white milky horse and travel a hundred miles to snow white’s bed side and kiss her on the lips...She was so dreamy, or was it Cinderella who was sleeping on the bed accompanied by a couple of dorks, I meant to say dwarfs. I’m just kidding. Just so we are clear, I was in preschool, so yeah, I did have my cape on.

And then came primary school, I attended Jamaludheen, made plenty of great friends…and even saw a girl. You know what, I’d rather skip that part and get to the point, how about that eh! Let me tell you how I intended to become the president before I tell you about the girl. I was in primary, and I didn’t know the first thing about politics…I was in the 5th grade, One day I was just watching the television and saw this guy who wore a yellow shirt fighting for something, I didn’t quite understand what it was. It seemed so scrupulous to me. I saw hundreds of candid individuals gathered as a cluster of lions beside him, so fearless and daring. So desperate to get what they want. And on the other side, I saw men who wore blue uniforms, Armed heavily, shielded with bullet proof armors. You want to know how I knew they were bullet proof. I did watch Con Air bros! I wasn’t a dorky kid. Anyways that was the day I understood ‘HOPE’ and ‘DREAMS.’ I wanted to become the president. Because I had so many dreams, and these dreams were paramount to me. I came all the way from wanting to become the Batman to the president; I guess my dreams did evolve spectacularly.

I lied; I wasn’t going to tell you about the girl I saw back in my primaries. But I will tell you about the Angel behind the green doors though. The only girl I ever loved, the only girl I ever saw in my dreams…yeah the dreams…this is where the dreams come in. I used to dream about her and me in the BIG PICTURE. I was so in love with her that nothing else mattered to me. I was blinded. I lost control, just because I wanted to make that picture real and God knows, I was in such a haste to grow up, and ready to fly like my brother, the vigorous eagle I told you about earlier. It’s just one thing…only one problem. My brother wasn’t a vigorous eagle…he was an adult, with a wife and kids and loads of responsibilities.

Now admit that you have dreams, admit that you fantasize about being the big guy in the big picture, and tell me, what are your dreams? What the hell do you want to do with your life? You want to sing? Write? Do you want to Starr in porno movies? Now c’mon what ever it is, don’t be afraid to do it. Spread your wings and do step up and show the world that you can do it. But you know what, if I were you, I wouldn’t Starr in a porno movie. I’m just saying.

Life isn’t easy as Windows 7. You know how Windows 7 came to life? As excited as I am to tell you the story of the beginning of software industry, I wouldn’t bore you with Bill Gate’s life story. As you know there were a handful of Operating Systems in the history, from Windows 98, ME, XP, Vista and finally Windows 7…and trust me these are only a few of them. Windows 7 is the most trouble-free and simplest Operating system of all. Bill gates spent his whole life to come up with such a masterpiece, after all the troubles and torments. He had a dream. It was just a dream and see where he is today. See how easy our life has become because of him and his dream. And think about the guy who wore the legendary yellow shirt, and had a dream. He is now the president of this country. He brought an end to the 30 year old dictatorship, yes a dictatorship…that’s my opinion, what are you going to do abut it tough guy.

I guess all I’m trying to say is that keep dreaming and work hard, don’t be in such a rush to grow up. Don’t quit and blame your failures on the troubles and ills of the world. If you endure the idea that no one believes in you…listen to me, I believe in you. I know you can, and I know you will. So don’t give up and quit, it all starts with a dream, only a dream.

MALDIVIAN BLOOD. (THEORE de MAIZ)

From the past few days I have come to comprehend that it is extraordinarily unimaginable and unpredictable how far we, the Maldivians are willing to go, how valiant and brave we can be, how gracious we are to our fellow brothers and sisters. I tell you one thing…and that is, we are the most vastly fearless beings on earth. We do not let anyone disrupt our dreams and aspirations. We stand as one nation, loyal to our Leaders and to each other. We pray for one God, the almighty Allah the most merciful who bestowed the aptitude of comradeship among us.

I believe we are so strong because we all have one thing in common. ‘Maldivian Blood’ that is. Not biologically proven of course, but the most eccentric form of blood that runs through human veins. It is the most vigorous form of blood that pumps from a human circulatory system. Call me a retard or whatsoever, I’ve been called worse since the article ‘WHY MALDIVIAN GIRLS MARRY SO YOUNG.’ You don’t have to believe me, but it’s the way I see it. This type of blood has the whole package, courage, fury, spirit and amity.

The SAFF Championship proves my theory for itself. On the field, we fought like lions. We scraped the shit out of our rivals. We were never to give up on our hopes, and that’s what we’ve accomplished And most importantly our countless supporters, who stood by us till to the last minute, the bravery and loyalty they had shown to their mother land, the blood they’ve shed for our pride and dignity. It was magnificent and faithfully altruistic. We may not have won the cup, but we were the mighty lions, and we fought like lions.

See how hard our leaders are fighting for our survival in the international community. We need results from the COP15, and they’ve been debating among the world leaders for the sake of our existence in future. Not a single Maldivian would ever tend to follow a foreign ruler, nor do we want to be refugees. We are the mighty lions of the Island nation. Can you imagine our homeland drowning and fading in to the Indian Ocean due to sea-level rising? How could we let they live and not us? Are we going to let a couple of Ass-holes from Europe and America make the decision? NO! We are not about to do that. We will pray…We will hope…We will fight, because we are ‘The Lions of the Islands.’ We shall die fighting, so that our kids could have a better life, here in these Islands. “LET NO MAN FORGET HOW MENACING WE ARE, WE ARE MALDIVIANS, WITH TRUE MALDIVIAN BLOOD!

WHY MALDIVIAN GIRLS MARRY SO YOUNG

BY IBRAHIM MAIZ

READERS DISCRETION ADVISED: This article is not to offend any woman by any means.

I know…I know, it is not any of my business to bug in…but I just love to uncover the facts, can’t help it. Maldivian girls getting married in such young age may not be the case always, but trust me, most of the time it is. And regrettably I may not have the well recognized and credited statistics; however it is one of the utmost phenomenons in this nation, not a single person would doubt that. In this article I will be decoding the reasons, not statistics.

Yeah…yeah, whatever! Women are independent, self-supported and blah…blah…blah, but to be straightforward and upright about it, it is not the case in Maldives. That is the way it is supposed to be, but it’s not. Not here, not yet anyway. So anyways, here in Maldives the way it’s done is simple. It is that the girl grows up at her home, with her parents and when she is grown and matured enough she is to find a place for her that would bestow and offer the protection and safeness that she was given as she was growing up, simple as that…in other words she is to choose ‘another home.’ In basic terms I mean a husband to protect her. Lets face it women aren’t independent and self-supported around here…like I said before, not yet anyway.

[2] FATHER ISSUES

Are you being unsure? Okay, if so gather a group of girls and ask them the following question. “WHO AMONG YOU HAVE NOT HAD ISSUES WITH YOUR FATHER?” Eh! If you doubt me even in the slightest of ways I insist you do that. Since when did the girl have had differences with her father? Since always…my friends, since the beginning of humanity and for some of you people since beginning of hominid family, According to Darwin, even the daughter Ramapithecus used to piss of her daddy. Now as she (the Maldivian girl) was growing up she has never been able to gratify her father. The way she dresses displeases him, her friends troubles him…they were never decent enough to be friends with her. She could never help her mother, enough to please her father. She has always been lazy and disrespectful to him. She could never be a proper daughter to him…She could never be as good as the son her father wanted…Yes a son, her father wanted a son. The problem is she wasn’t what he wanted. So she wants to get the hell out of there. From all the desolation and unhappiness, what is the way? Yes! Get married. I know…I know. It’s not fair! But that is Maldives for you.

[3] TOO MANY SIBLINGS (CONDOMLESSNESS)™

Let’s talk Maldives. How many siblings do you have? 7? 10? 12? Am I even getting close? Maldivians weren’t aware of the existence of condoms until later; to be quite honest I don’t think Maldivian men is that fond of it…I’m not kidding. So it is very likely to have 7 to 12 siblings in a single family, men were always up to it. At some parts of the country giving birth has been a competition, that’s what I heard. I grew up with one sister, and even we fought like hell and caused each other numerous amounts of torments and pain. Not to mention the excruciating amount of pressure we put our parents in. So imagine what it’d be like to have 12 siblings, and for those who have 12 siblings, think of the battles you had just to survive. If it was me, if I was the girl with 12 brothers and sisters, I would want to flee, perhaps land on the son of Mudhimbe. I hear he’s a catch.

[4] INSECURITY

Yeah, I know…it sucks! But it’s the truth. They are insecure and vulnerable, last time I checked. To make sure we are on the same page, I am still talking about Maldives…Not the States. “I’ve finished school, my father doesn’t like me…my sisters are jealous of me and I don’t know what to do. I’ve never been to the real world, what should I do?” Says the fictitious girl I just made up. All her life, she came straight to home from school, dhivehin bunaanama geyga hunigaanan inee. She doesn’t know a thing about the real world; have no clue of how to deal with anything outside of the four walls, life isn’t as simple as Microsoft Windows 7. “That’s why I got married” she says.

I’m sorry ladies…I couldn’t write the way you want it to be. Give me a couple of years, and then I may be able to amend it. These are a lot of issues in our communities…we have to understand the disease and the cause before we cure it. In my opinion the cause of the disease are ungrateful men and fathers, and the cure for it is better parenting. May Allah guide us to the right path. Amen!

WHY WE NEED TO BELIEVE IN A HIGHER POWER

BY IBRAHIM MAIZ

16 years ago, I was born and this is what I am…I believe in a god. I believe in a judgment day, day of the lord that is...the final and eternal judgment by God, which will take place after the resurrection of dead and the Second coming. I believe in heaven and hell. Or simply to cite, I BELIEVE IN A HIGHER POWER. I believe in a higher power because I need to, for the reason that if I did not, the worries and the ultimatums of my life would eat me inside. In this article I tend to decode and illustrate, why we humans need to believe in a higher power. I am to give a reason for those whom have preferred Atheism as a way of life.

Let’s commence with the facts. There are preferably 6.7 Billion people on earth, and among these 6.7 billion people 1.1 billion are considered as Atheists or Secularists. Or in other words ‘Non Believers.’ The question is how come they do not believe in a god? Are they so idiotic, that they don’t follow a Religion? Why should we choose a God to believe in? Why we need to believe in a higher power than us? I will get down to it later, first let’s embark on why they chose not to believe and suffer instead.

I believe there are far too many reasons, too many possibilities. To begin with it may be due to the existence of multiple gods and religious traditions among us. Neutrally speaking, It is difficult to credit a certain religion for a non believer as being True or any particular god as being True when there have been so many throughout human history. I mean it confuses them. None appears to have any greater claim to being more credible or reliable than any other. “Why Christianity but not Judaism? Why Islam and not Hinduism? Why monotheism and not polytheism?” they say. Every position has had its defenders, all as ardent as those in other traditions. They can't all be right and nor can all be wrong.

Gods being too similar to believers in some religions have had an affect on Atheists. It’s true that a few cultures, like ancient Greece, have postulated gods which appear to be as natural as human beings, like Zeus and Apollo the sun god or Venus and Poseidon, but in general gods are supernatural. This means that they are fundamentally different from human beings or anything on earth. Despite this, however, theists consistently describe their gods in ways that make the supernatural appear almost mundane. In these cultures Gods share so many characteristics with humans that it has been argued that gods were made in the image of man.

The other reason that the Atheists express for not believing is the evils of the world. Closely associated with taking action that should be considered immoral is the fact that there is so much evil in the world today. “If there are any gods, why don't they act to eliminate it?” they say. The absence of substantive action against evil would be consistent with the existence of evil or at least indifferent gods, which is not impossible, but few people believe in such gods. Most claim that their gods are loving and powerful; the suffering on Earth makes their existence implausible. These are the very few reasons I could think for the time being.

They believe in science, medicine and facts. They don’t believe in a god nor do they have faith. When things go too far out of control…they do not pray, they do not hope nor do they believe and thus it is the end for them. “Let it be” they utter.

Now let’s get to ‘Why we need to believe?’ We all are aware of what keeps our body running. It is the heart, of course. It pumps blood through the veins and delivers Oxygen to the brain, tissues and all the other organs in our body. With out the heart, we’d rather be literally lifeless. Our body would not function any more. Lack of oxygen results in organ failure and hence we shall die. In hospitals the nurse codes blue which indicate a patient requiring immediate resuscitation, most often as the result of a cardiac arrest or a heart failure. And the nurses respond with a defibrillator to restart the heart. Now the question is if heart is what keeps our body functioning what keeps the heart from working. What happens when the nurse restart the heart and not succeed? Why the patient dies and not lives? Why did the heart stop pumping blood? Will science and medicine stop the person from dying you morons? That is why we need to believe in a higher power than us. Because we are as helpless as mush as the dead man who just had a cardiac arrest on a bed surrounded by medical experts with the most advanced medical equipments and knowledge, we need to believe because we know we can’t fight the swine flu all by our selves. That’s why we believe. That’s why we hope. That’s why we pray to god, the almighty god. We follow a religion because we must follow a way of life. We’d rather hook up with anyone we see or consume anything we desire like the Atheists do if there were no judgment day. We wouldn’t be Muslims or Christians if it weren’t for those reasons. Mighty Agamemnon would’ve not sacrificed his loving daughter to the goddess if he wasn’t mortal. Isn’t that reason enough?

STORY of the STARS

I will tell you the story of the stars, not what you think, of course. I wouldn’t waste my time telling you how they formed. Why they shine and all the other crap. Logon to NASA’s website, they will tell you all about it. I’m going to tell you how the stars inspired me…one night, how they sang to me. How they guided me to the right path, they gave me light when it was dark. They gave me hope and faith, when I was left out with nothing but misery and regret, and they kept me going, to reach my destiny.

I walked to the Artificial beach all by myself that night. Just to clear my mind. I went there in search for the answers to the most important questions of all, because I needed to breathe into fresh air. Some might say I went there to hide myself. And maybe they were right. When I was alone there, I felt like anything is possible, because, I knew that I was the ‘Mighty Agamemnon of Mycenae’ on the thoshi the Japanese led 30 or so years ago. And I knew there was no one to judge me, and knew I wouldn’t make any mistakes while I was there. I didn’t have to prove myself to anyone. I forgot about the sister that abandoned my family a long time ago, forgot about the pain I felt, just for a moment, all the weight I have been carrying was taken away from me, as if all of it rose up to the sky with some sort of magnetic power. And I finally got to feel, how it is like to be the most powerful man in the whole world, as if the real world isn’t there anymore. It didn’t matter how loud I sang with the stars, No one heard…I got to be Jason Reeves. At least that’s what the stars told me that night.

While I was there, I saw this one star, one very special star. It was much brighter, much more beautiful than the others. I couldn’t take my eyes away from it, not even for a single moment as if it was forcing me to look nowhere else, as if it had a better song for me, with a better melody and a meaningful story. I listened very carefully, it was like the melody was running through my veins, slowing and racing my heart, both at the same time. It was beautiful, Inspiring. I mouthed the words. As the stars sang to me, as if I knew that song, as if I’ve heard it before from somewhere else. I was so pleased that I knew the words, because I knew how the song ends.

People say. It all looks the same. But as I gazed through the night sky, I learned that every star had a different melody, and it’s when they are mixed together it translates to a song. The song was so spectacular, that I felt so bad for the people who didn’t hear it. They all were hooked up with some sort of worldly act and missed so much that night. Every fool knows when it’s dark enough we can see the stars, but we don’t hear the song, unless we listen.

They are not just stars; they are more than then…much more than that. People…they just don’t know that.

"I WANT A DICORCE" WHY

Somebody has got to talk about this, wouldn’t you say. Now don’t you read this and come up to me just to remind me my own age. I know I’m only 16, and that I don’t know much about divorce and marriage. But I tell you, I know enough. I have never been married nor have ever I been divorced, and yet here I am writing about one of the most important issues in this country, divorce.

I have been told that marriage is a commitment, to god and to each other…to spend the rest of their lives together, perhaps it is the nature’s way of building a foundation for a family. At least it’s what our religion says about marriage. The question is why the way of nature leads to ‘Divorce?’

I’ll tell you why…In Maldives; most of the people get married in a very young age. They think they are in love, they think they know each other till to the last bone. They think they can live together, and they say, they will sing ‘You’re still the one’ when they grow old together. The saddest part is that they actually believe it. But they have been dating for only 8 months, and want to get married. Why? ‘Cause they want to get physical. They want to get inside the pants. And our religion forbids sex outside of marriage, for the right reasons, of course. I am not commenting on that, not my place anyway.

Anyways, after 8 months or so they get married. He gets only RF 5000 to support his family, and she is only 18 years old, with no job, no future, and yet the ‘hottest chick.’ That’s what he thinks, but only later he realizes that ‘HOTNESS’ doesn’t support a family unless the wife is willing to dance naked for other men. No husband would ever want that. Gradually problems arise. They yell…they fight, even sometimes get physical and hurt each other, because he doesn’t love her anymore. He forgets about the lyrics of ‘You’re still the one’ and every other promise he made when they were dating. Or maybe he did really love her, but ‘Love’ itself is not the answer. He realizes. As Mark Twain said “Love seems the swiftest, but it is the slowest of all growths. No man or woman really knows what perfect love is until they have been married a quarter of a century.

Sometimes, the husband falls for a slutty nurse, where he works as a doctor, even though he has two beautiful kids, and a beautiful, responsible wife. ‘HOTNESS’ eh! And also, some people sacrifice their family just to follow Rashad Khalifa and his religion ‘19’ and leave the kids with nothing, but misery. I feel sorry for those families.

Remember marriage is not just about sex…it’s more than that, much more than that. So listen to me my brothers, don’t get married ‘because you think she’s HOT and because you want to get in her pants. In the end, you will taste nothing but regret and misery, you will suffer like hell. You get to live your life once, make sure you are on the right path.

'MAIZ THEORY™ - Philosophical Love ©

Love…What is love? You know, love is like philosophy. There are no limits or boundaries in love, nor is there right or wrong answers for love. You can always think right outside of the box.

So I keep saying to myself, that I love this girl, The Angel behind the Green doors. I mean guys, seriously, how could I possibly know that she’s the one? How can YOU be sure that it is love? Is it possible to prove your love? If you try to answer these questions the way Ludwig Wittgenstein would’ve, then you are troubled. He was the man who set limits on our thoughts unlike me. What he tried to tell us was the following “CAN WE KNOW THE TRUTH?”In order to find that truth Wittgenstein used in fact mathematical logic. He advanced slowly using equations after equations with impeccable method until he reached a terrifying conclusion. There is no such truth outside of mathematics; there is no way of finding a single absolute truth, an irrefutable argument which might help answer the questions of mankind. So for him, Philosophy therefore is dead. Because where he cannot speak, he must be silent. So screw him and his darn theories. And just for once try to see things in MY point of view. I promise you…you won’t be disappointed.

Love…It is the smallest and the simplest things of all that determines whether or not you are in love. Like on the road, when your eyes catches a “HOT CHICK” no offense ladies, you will feel violated to stare at her or even to check her out, ‘cause love comes with boundaries and respect. YOU will respect your loved one enough not to goof around like a horny 15 year old by the way I’m 16 years old. And even when you pass by “THE GALLERIA”, and when you see that dress…that beautiful, gorgeous…stunning dress, you will imagine her wearing it. You will imagine the way she looks in it. And you will see yourself buying her that dress, ‘cause she’s your baby girl, even the thought of it would give you thrills in your spine.

Okay, now let’s get out of the road and go to her place. You are at her place, and you hug her as you see her and it’s not the softness of her breasts that you will feel, but it is the heart beat that will struck you inside. It’s the strangest thing, as if you know the rhythm of her heart. And it’s not the make-up that you will notice on her face when you see her, but her expressions. You will be eager to learn whether she is sad, happy or whatever the feelings might be on. When you look at her eyes, you don’t care about the wrinkles, ‘because you know she’s the most beautiful woman in the whole universe. It wouldn’t matter to you, how many men around the world votes Megan Fox as the sexiest woman alive, you know Fox doesn’t stand a chance. As you smell her, you don’t care whether if she’s wearing ‘CHANEL’ or not, because IN YOUR MIND, you will smell the wild flowers that reminds you of her. And when you take her in your arms, you don’t care if she weighs equal to a baby Elephant; to you she’s the lightest of all. You know you will always be strong enough to carry her in your arms. And when you finally kiss her, you will wonder that is times like this that you know what your purpose is in life. As you kiss her, you wouldn’t want to let her go, ‘because you kiss her, to protect her from evil and wrong, to learn from her and to receive her love in return. And you will be with her because you know; there is no other place to be.

You wouldn’t care who her mother is, and it doesn’t matter to you if she’s faskulhandhu madhu it doesn’t bother you is her necklace isn’t genuinely gold, ‘cause you see her past all that. You will see her as an individual, as your ‘ANGEL’

Now that’s what love is and trust me when I say there is no such thing as ‘True Love’ and ‘Soul mates’ it’s just a load of crap which only exists and matters in the fairy tales…fairy tales only. Not ever in real life. There’s only LOVE. And it’s up to you to translate your love in to a fairy tale. ‘Cause boy! When you see her you know it’s possible.

Generation i

We are living in a truly fascinating time of change and promise. Within just a few years, rapid advancements in technology have transformed the way we do business, the way we communicate, the way we live. These advances have also changed the way we teach and learn. To me, the most exciting aspect of this new technology is its potential as an educational tool for a new generation. Being on the cusp of this enormous cultural shift makes it a thrilling time to be a part of the education community.

I have begun to think of the kids born during the past decade as “Generation I”, the Internet generation. The full impact of the Internet will be felt not by us but by them. They will have no memory of life without the Net. They will be mystified by our record albums, because to them, music will simply be something that is downloaded from the Web onto their computers, where they can organize songs exactly as they wish to listen to them. And while the printed book will not disappear, reading a novel on-line won’t be an alien concept.

Generation I will be able to conceive of the Internets possibilities far more profoundly than we can today. This new generation will become agents of change as the limits of the Internet expand to include educational, scientific, and business applications that we cannot even imagine.

But with this promise of the future come a challenge and a responsibility for all of us the educators, parents, and communities of these children. It’s our job to provide them with the tools they need to master the new technology and move it forward.

What are the key things we need to do? We need to post great content on the Internet. We need to find more efficient ways of classifying and linking content. We need to train youngsters to use the Internet responsibly, and we need to think hard about how to avoid exposing them to damaging on-line material.

What is important is that we make it our goal to provide every classroom in every school in Maldives with Internet access. Then we can build a learning community in which schools, parents, kids, museums and libraries creatively share information and resources.

Technology by itself is not the answer, of course. The answer is great teachers who are able not only to use technology but to rethink and adapt traditional curricula to its possibilities. The Internet can be the most incredible learning tool ever created. But we must come together to make the Connected Learning Community a reality. Because “Generation I” is just the beginning.

I, Me & You

Well I should’ve written about this a long time ago but didn’t thought about it until it started being a “PAIN IN THE ASS”, what does exactly come to your mind when I say “I, Me & You”. Aaaaaah! See, I told you.

“I, Me & You” is a phase that all of us went through as kids; so did I. Routinely it goes on from the first grade to the fourth, for some of us fifth grade. Anyway, my beloved nephew is in the second grade. He is going through the same thing as we did. But only more irritating and excruciating of course. Haven’t you thought about it? Why is it passing on from decades to decades, Generation to generation? Is it something that we have to go through as Puberty?

“Kobaa I you athah dhin aeroplane”, “Mammee I varah bandu hai vejje”. Eh! I am sure now you get an idea about what I am really trying to say. Isn’t it annoying? This must be stopped and school is the way we can do it. Our kids are being introduced to English language at primary school, and I really don’t approve mixing up English and our adored mother language.

Technology- Road to future Devastation

This is what I wrote for Majeedhiyya’s 83rd anniversary’s essay writing competition

Imagine a world full of high technology machines. Robots doing the chores for us, cars flying in the air. Such an exciting and fun cite indeed. At the rate our technology is going today, this may not be a far-fetched future for us. Today we have phones that can connect to any phone in the world, clearly and we could even see whom we are speaking to. We use microwave ovens that could cook food in minutes rather than in hours. There are virtual cars that student drivers could use to test their skills without harming any passersby. Surely this is overwhelming to all of us but have we considered contemplating on what we have to pay for these luxuries. The Rivers used to be a vital ecosystem for marine life and a source of food for us. Tons and tons of fish used to be gathered from the rivers.

Carbon dioxide is emitted into the atmosphere by the fumes. The deep flowing fresh water, which was even drinkable before, is now a bed of mud, slime, oil and other chemicals that are not only coming from the households but also from the factories as well. If only there were enough trees to counter these exhaust of carbon dioxide but due to industrialization acres of forests are destroyed. In place of the trees are factories and power plants that provide us with the luxuries we enjoy every day. The soft soil is the one that gradually form landslides, a calamity that buries thousands of lives in a mere instant. This is a problem that has not only claimed hundreds but rather thousands of lives because the roots of trees help hold down the soil of the mountains so when these trees are uprooted as raw materials or to provide space for factories and roads, the soil is loosened and becomes soft through the rain fall. These industrial factories are the ones that provide manufacturers with the much needed resource to make the technological gizmos we have today. But this is just one of the problems we face for these factories are also a major source of global warming. Trees are also uprooted to be used as another resource for the luxuries we enjoy. And last but surely not the least, mountains and hills are continuously being deforested to provide a suitable place for a factory. A damage that is hard to heal like the rehabilitation of the river. The river once filled with life is now lined up with garbage that we recklessly threw in it. So you see, there is a great price we pay for enjoying these so called luxuries.

WOOAAAH! :O

I was out of movies and series to watch, couldn’t start reading a book again. So I surfed the internet all day long. And this is what I found, GOD! : O, can you imagine. He’s “The man with no face”, 51 years old according to the article I read. His name is Jose Mestre, from Portugal. And the tumor has been growing for the past 35 years, longer than the Dictator Maumoon ruled our country eh! And yeah of course it’s a tumor, what did you think it was. : P

According to the article he was born with a strawberry-colored birthmark on his upper lip, it was when he hit puberty that he found out it was not a birthmark. It grew and grew, eventually smothering his lips, nose and one of his eyes. Now it is 33cm long and weighs 3kg, can it be any more excruciating.
